Acceptable Use Policy

Effective [Effective Date] · Version 2026-10-23.2

Phone numbers and texting only work when carriers trust the traffic coming from them. This policy lists what you can't do with Linea. It's part of our Terms of Service, and it applies to everyone on your account.

Texting

  • Only text people who gave you permission to text them, and keep a record of that consent (when, how, and what they agreed to). Marketing texts need prior express written consent.
  • No purchased, rented, scraped, or shared contact lists.
  • Honor opt-outs. STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, and similar replies stop messages automatically; requests made any other reasonable way must be honored within 10 business days.
  • Don't send marketing texts before 8am or after 9pm in the recipient's local time, or during stricter state quiet hours.
  • Identify your business in your messages and make sure what you send matches your registered texting use case.
  • Don't spread traffic across many numbers to avoid filtering or limits ("snowshoeing"), and don't use URL shorteners that hide where a link goes.

Calling

  • No robocalls, autodialed calls, prerecorded or artificial voice calls (including AI voices) to anyone who hasn't given the consent the law requires.
  • Don't spoof or misrepresent caller ID, or call from a number you don't have the right to use.
  • Don't make calls that harass, threaten, or defraud, including impersonating a government agency, bank, or another business.
  • Follow the National Do Not Call Registry and your own internal do-not-call list.
  • If you record calls, get the consent required where you and the other person are. Several states require everyone on the call to agree.

Content you may not send

  • Anything illegal, including illegal drugs and cannabis where federal or carrier rules prohibit it.
  • Sexual or adult content; hate speech; content promoting violence or self-harm.
  • Alcohol, firearms, and tobacco or vaping content, unless you're registered for it, the carrier allows it, and recipients are verified as of legal age.
  • Phishing, malware, scams, deceptive debt relief, high-risk loans, get-rich-quick schemes, or third-party lead generation.
  • Content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.

Accounts and the network

  • Give accurate business information, and cooperate with carrier and identity verification ("know your customer") requests.
  • Don't resell or sublicense numbers or service without our written permission.
  • Don't attempt to break, overload, probe, or bypass the security or limits of the service, or of our providers.
  • Don't use the service for anything that puts emergency services, other customers, or carriers at risk.

Enforcement

If we believe you've broken this policy, or a carrier or regulator tells us you have, we may block messages or calls, suspend features or your account, cancel your texting registration, or end your service. We'll usually warn you first and give you a chance to fix things, but we may act immediately to stop harm or carrier penalties. Fines or fees a carrier charges us because of your traffic may be billed to you.
