Terms of Service
Effective [Effective Date] · Version 2026-10-23.2
These Terms are an agreement between Linea (“we”, “us”) and the business that creates an account (“Customer”, “you”). They cover your use of the Linea website, apps, phone numbers, calling, texting, and AI features (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, our Privacy Policy, and our 911 & Emergency Calling notice. Section 19 requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration and waives class actions.
1. The Service
Linea provides business phone numbers, calling in the browser and on connected phones, voicemail, a shared text inbox, call routing, and an AI receptionist. Features vary by plan. We may change, add, or remove features; if we remove something material to your plan, we'll tell you in advance where practical.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- The Service is for businesses and other organizations, not personal or household use. You must be at least 18 and able to bind your business.
- Give accurate information (including your business details and, for texting, your registration details) and keep it current.
- You're responsible for your account, your team members' use of it, and keeping passwords secure. Tell us promptly at support@lineaphone.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Plans, billing, and automatic renewal
- Plans are priced per user per month: Starter $19, Pro $33, Business $49. Adding a team member adds one user to your bill, prorated.
- Your subscription renews automatically every month at the then-current price for your plan and number of users, charged to your payment method on file, until you cancel. We'll tell you before any price increase takes effect.
- You can cancel online at any time from Billing in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we don't provide refunds for partial months except where required by law.
- A one-time setup fee of $25 covers carrier registration for business texting and is non-refundable once the registration is submitted. Carriers charge for every review, so if a registration is rejected and you resubmit it, each resubmission costs $15, charged to your payment method when you resubmit and non-refundable once submitted. If carriers reject wording we wrote for your registration, we fix and resubmit it at no charge.
- Every plan includes AI receptionist minutes each month (20 per user on Starter, 60 on Pro, 150 on Business). When a month's included minutes are used up, the AI receptionist stops answering until the next month and calls are handled by your other call settings; there are no extra charges for AI minutes.
- Prices don't include taxes, 911 fees, Universal Service Fund and other regulatory charges, which we bill separately where they apply.
- If a payment fails, we may pause outgoing calls and texts until it's resolved, and may suspend the account after notice.
4. Fair use
Calling within the US and Canada is unlimited for normal business use, up to 750 minutes per user per month on Starter and 1,500 on Pro and Business. If you go past that, we'll let you know and may ask you to move to a plan that fits your volume. We don't cut off calls because of fair use, but we may limit service that looks like autodialing, call centers, or reselling.
5. 911 and emergency calling
Internet-based calling has limitations that can affect 911, including during power or internet outages. 911 is available only from numbers with outgoing calls turned on and a registered address, which you must keep accurate. The AI receptionist, voicemail, and text features are not emergency services, and texting 911 is not supported. Read the full 911 & Emergency Calling notice, which you acknowledge when you turn on outgoing calls.
6. Texting
- You are the sender of the texts you send through the Service. You're responsible for having the consent the law requires, keeping records of it, honoring opt-out requests (including STOP) promptly, and sending only during permitted hours (generally 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the recipient's time zone).
- Carriers require business texting to be registered. We register your business and campaign with the carriers on your behalf using the information you provide, which must be accurate. Carriers may reject, filter, or delay messages, and we aren't responsible for their decisions.
- Missed-call text-back sends one text to a caller whose call went unanswered. You can turn it off or change its wording in Settings.
7. Calls, recording, transcription, and AI
- Some states require everyone on a call to consent to recording (for example California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington). You're responsible for giving notice and getting consent where required, including for voicemail, recorded calls, transcription, and AI-answered calls.
- The AI receptionist identifies itself as an automated assistant. It answers using the information you give it and may make mistakes; review its messages and don't rely on it for urgent, medical, legal, or emergency matters.
- You may not use the Service to place outbound calls with an artificial or AI-generated voice without the consent the law requires.
8. Phone numbers and porting
You may port numbers to Linea and port your numbers away from Linea. We won't unreasonably delay or refuse a valid request to port a number out, including when you're leaving us. Porting depends on the other carrier and the accuracy of the account details you provide. If you cancel without porting a number out, we may release the number after 30 days, and it may be reassigned.
9. Acceptable use and suspension
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or limit the Service, including pausing outgoing calls and texts, to address suspected fraud, spam, unusual usage that could harm you or us, a legal or carrier requirement, or a violation of these Terms. Where practical we'll tell you first and restore service once the issue is resolved.
10. Your content and data
You own your content: call recordings, voicemails, transcripts, messages, contacts, and other data you or your callers provide (“Customer Data”). You give us permission to host, process, and transmit Customer Data only to provide, secure, and support the Service and as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't sell Customer Data or use it to train AI models, and where our providers offer the option, we turn off their use of it for model training. You're responsible for having the rights and consents needed for the Customer Data you collect.
11. Service availability
We work to keep the Service available but don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Calls and texts rely on the internet, carriers, and other networks outside our control. Features labeled beta or preview are provided as is.
12. Third-party services
The Service uses providers such as our telecom carrier and payment processor, and may connect to services you choose (like calendars). Their terms apply to your use of them, and we aren't responsible for them.
13. Our intellectual property and feedback
We own the Service and its software, design, and branding. These Terms don't give you rights to them except to use the Service as allowed here. If you send feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
14. Term and termination
These Terms last while you have an account. You can cancel at any time from Billing. We may end the Service for material breach that isn't cured within 10 days of notice, or immediately for fraud, illegal use, or repeated Acceptable Use violations. After cancellation you can export your data for 30 days, after which we delete it except where we must keep records by law.
15. Disclaimers
Except as stated in these Terms, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.
16. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or revenue, and each party's total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any inability to reach 911 or emergency services, or for delays or errors in emergency calls, through the Service. These limits don't apply to your payment obligations, your indemnity obligations, or liability that can't be limited by law.
17. Indemnity
You'll defend and indemnify Linea against claims, fines, and costs arising from your Customer Data, your calls and texts (including consent, recording, and do-not-call or telemarketing laws), or your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app; continuing to use the Service after they take effect means you accept them. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
19. Dispute resolution, arbitration, and class-action waiver
- Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, each party agrees to try to resolve the dispute informally for 60 days after sending written notice describing it (legal@lineaphone.com for notices to us).
- Binding individual arbitration. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, by a single arbitrator, in California or by video. The arbitrator may award the same relief as a court, but only on an individual basis.
- Class-action waiver. Claims may be brought only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding.
- Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek a court injunction to protect intellectual property or stop unauthorized use of the Service.
- Opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing legal@lineaphone.com with your name, business, and account email.
- Mass filings. If 25 or more similar demands are filed by or with the same counsel, they will be administered in batches under the AAA's mass arbitration rules.
- If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must proceed in court, not in arbitration.
20. Governing law and general terms
These Terms are governed by the laws of California and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any court proceedings allowed under Section 19 will be in the state or federal courts located in California. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms, with the policies they reference, are the entire agreement about the Service.
